Indulging In Polish

The other day I passed by Terry White Chemist shop and they had a whole load of nail polish on sale for $2 each. I couldn’t resist picking up a few. Nail polish is just one of those girly things that I indulge in a lot more than I would with make-up or fashion, simply due to the price. And I love looking at my nail colours when I’m working and typing away at the keyboard. Go rainbow nails, go!

Ulta3 Nail Colour in Lagoon went on pretty smoothly, only took me 2 regular coats to give it that shiny finish and it had a reasonable drying time.

NYC Nail Colour in Citrus was this bright, neon yellow polish. It took way too many thick coats (3+) and because of that it took way too long to dry. I clearly don’t have any patience since regular coats were too sheer for my liking. Since I was using my left hand to apply on my right hand, I was very messy with the application.

For the price that I paid, I couldn’t really expect too much from them. It’s instant gratification at its finest. Though it wouldn’t count as instant if Citrus took forever to dry, now would it?

Oh yeah, both had a pretty strong smell but NYC was even worse. Even when I got to bed, I had to keep my hands away from my face so I wouldn’t smell them. I think that might be a bad sign, yah? Meh.

So far Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure and Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish collections are my drugstore faves. Their brushes are pretty good, consistency is awesome (not too thick or thin) and drying time are reasonable, though Rimmel’s truly dries, amazingly fast!

What’s on your nails today? Do you change them up often or do you stay au natural?

Until next time, sprinkle hearts!

60 Seconds Polish

Got this the other day, a total impulse shop but worth it! It's Green with Envy, 60 Seconds by Rimmel London. The brush is smooth and spreads the polish on pretty well, it's also a very fast drying so it's OK to put it on a little thickly for one layer. I love this shade of shimmery green, almost turquoise? While putting it on, the colour reminded me of the Little Mermaid, in a sexy way.

Love the shade and I'll get a few more shades in the collection. I wonder if they have a mint shade…

Cheers and sprinkles,

Getting Silly With the Webcam

And it's not even 11PM for me yet!

I'm feeling quite lazy and boring and lethargic. It's one of those evenings where nothing is really entertaining me which doesn't happen often because I have a very active imagination. Frankly I could entertain myself, drive myself to distraction way into the early dawn just by being connected on the interwebz, but tonight… I'm just blah!

Is anybody out there? Do you get like this too? What do you do to get out of a funk?

How about getting silly with the webcam? Yeah, OK, so maybe I should have gotten myself prettied up but this is me unedited! At least I entertained myself for another half hour.

What am I going to do with the next 12? You tell me, you tell me right now!

Much love and sprinkles,

Been Away on an Adventure

G’day mates! I haven’t forgotten about you but I have been going through some transition while I get settled in Brisbane. Until I get a more reliable internet connection my posts will most likely be few and far between. Hopefully once everything is figured out I will actually be able to write and share photos more!

While I’m offline, I have been preparing a lot of content to share with you so please keep coming back. In the meanwhile, have you guys ever taken a really big, big leap of faith and travelled across the globe to follow love, career, fun?

Spring Trend Report Review

It was a pretty glummy, rainy Monday evening but stepping into The Red Carpet Room was a complete change of atmosphere. Miss Yvonne Kai of HeyDoYou, was ever the gracious host, friendly and inviting – definitely someone I look forward to getting to know more about as she's also a lovely entrepreneur who successfully utilized social media and blogging to her advantage!

I digress so on with the Spring Trend Report. Everything was glammed up and pretty, with all the jewellery boutiques set up and showcasing their wares. There were plenty of lovely hardware and feathers, I think I should have gotten one of Oh Dina Hair Fascinations's creations. Looking back on these photos, I remember how cute they look and so much more magnificent in person. I had such a good time trying on a few of them with @ValTorontoGal, a new professional on the scene, a representative of KristianWard.com covering hot new events in the city. I'm really glad to have met her because I was starting to feel out of place, and  had a very natural and infectious energy which made the evening for me.

My favourite aspects of attending events like this is the social and personal interactions. I'm definitely shy and constantly in awe of the amazing talent that Toronto has that I'm instantly in fangirl mode when I do attend events. I also enjoy being part of the experience instead of blogging about them from an outsider view. As shy as I am, I'm glad I still try because I did enjoy meeting Yvonne and Valerie.

Do you think that because someone blogs, it instantly makes them an outgoing, social butterfly? Do you blog and still feel shy? Stew on that for a bit.

Sunday Magazines

Hello Nibblets,

I've been catching up on some stacked magazines I had set aside months ago. I haven't been buying them as often simply because I have been getting all kinds of busy, but today I did get to enjoy reading up on them.

Read up on Emily Blunt – I got a chance to see an advanced screening of Young Victoria, but alas, too busy! Elle's gift guide with a red theme – delicious! And a fantastic article on Nadine Joliea former beauty editor and author of Confessions of a Beauty Addict.

So it was a pretty chill way to spend some offline time.

Much love and sprinkle hearts,

Fora Magazine by MTV Canada

MTV Canada will soon be launching an online magazine, Fora. A magazine focused on beauty and trends which might just be another resource to finding out the latest and most popular in trends, especially since MTV's got the pulse on all things pop! I can't wait to find out more about it and I will definitely share my findings here.

Have you got any links to share on beauty and trends? I'm sure you do, so share them please? I could always add more to my kajillion feeds in Google Reader.

Wrist Decorations

I'm obsessed with rings, I'm not sure if you get that yet but I am.

Accessory-wise, the next lusty obsession I have is with wrist decorations. I love to stack lots and lots of bracelets together, although I'm not too keen on all the jiggling against the desk when I'm at the keyboard all day. Ah, well, a little jiggling is always acceptable!

Much love and sprinkle hearts,

Vampires and Illegal Signs on Queen West – Torontoist

The property at 224 Queen Street West was taken over by Juxta Productions last summer to promote movies.

Fake packs of blood are just one of many props used to promote the new Maple Productions flick Daybreakers.

Vampire-themed menus and drink lists intrigue Queen West window shoppers.

Super cool promotion for Daybreakers. I would like to see this, however, I don’t really have high hopes of this being a good movie so I’m still undecided if I want to see it in theater or wait till the DVD comes out.

Happy New Year!

Today’s the first day of 2010 and I wish you all love and success!

I haven’t any particular resolutions, just to be better at what I do and enjoy all that’s around me. Let’s make a good year whatever may come.

Share your resolutions or goals and maybe we can help push each other to be better and feel better!

Happy Holidays 2009

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with friends, family and good food. May the new year bring you more of what you desire, but most of all, make it the year you want it to be.

Whatever holiday you may be celebrating, cheers my lovelies!

Filled with inspiration from DesignThinkers 2009

Yeah, I’m pretty exhausted but in a good, super inspired kind of way! I’ve spent the week getting recharged and pumped about design both creatively and professionally during DesignThinkers 2009. The week of events was kicked off with a screening of Art & Copy on Monday evening, two jam-packed days of amazing speakers and studio tours on Thursday. I’m still kind of processing the past few days but I just wanted to share a few shots.

DesignThinkers 2009

DesignThinkers is back for another round of design inspiration! This will be RGD Ontario’s 10th annual international conference focusing on the role of design in business, society and future health of the planet. The conference takes place on November 3rd and 4th, with additional events throughout the week.

I have been to two other DesignThinkers conferences and both have been an exceptionally inspiring experiences. I’ve come out of these with fresh ideas, connected with other designers and industry professionals and boat loads of books to keep me inspired. It’s pretty much impossible to not be inspired or amazed with an amazing lineup of speakers.

I’m pretty pumped about it already.

Fantasy Friday

Tap yourself with a bit o’ magic dust because it’s time for Fantasy Friday. Imagine yourself going through that rabbit hole for some outrageous day trip or perhaps a mellow relaxo picnic at the park, but do it in the most gorgeous outfit! Take this moment to get out of your head, brush off all that accumulated stress the week has settled on your shoulder and have a little mind-adventure with me.

You see, I’m dreaming of taking a leisurely walk in the park enjoying my croissant and chocolate drink with the warm sunlight trickling through the green canopy. I’ll settle down on lush patch of green grass with fashion and design magazines.

I’ll try my hand at making this a regular column all about letting go of the everyday and let your imagination go wild. Best of all, it won’t cost you a thing, I promise!

Don’t forget to share with me, your own Fantasy Friday! What else would you be doing?

Happy Canada Day!

Holiday festivities started yesterday as I co-hosted a casual gathering with my roomie. I’m really happy with everyone who came hope that they all had as much fun as I did! Clearly, dancing till 4am without getting a single neighbourly compaint is a sign of how truly awesome we are!

I hope you all have a great holiday, celebrating Canada Day! This one is an oldie but a goodie.

Did someone say beaver?

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day everyone, please enjoy another consumerist holiday with lovely e-card from someecards.com , “when you care enough to hit send”.

I really like this particular card because I’m the middle child with two brothers. Of course, my dad does tend to spoil/favour me, often calling me “son” but it wasn’t until recently that he explained that he’s been calling me “sun” for sunshine! Which I think is the sweetest thing, coming from a man who has a hard time verbalizing mushy things like saying “I love you”. So I think he’d get a kick out of this little gem!

So check them out when you need to quickly send a little something out. I have been using someecards.com for a long time now because it’s cheeky and easy to use. They’ve since added the ability to create your own cards but they’re selection of snarky humour continue to grow and relevent with current issues.

From the Beginning: Desiging for Yourself

As a full-time employed designer for a studio, I have found myself lacking motivation and inspiration to continue my own designs and artwork. I recognized this a long time ago, though my work has kept me engaged with design, it has not allowed me to completely explore my own creative flavour.

Now is the time for me to kick myself into gear and finally put together a website for myself, one that fully encourages and encompasses my own imagination without limits. I need it to be my portfolio and personal platform to share my thoughts, advice about the things I’ve learned so far and goals for the future.

Follow me on my journey of self-improvement and quest for creative fulfillment. I will go through obstacles and bouts of procrastination but I will do my best to overcome these, because it is time to stop letting my own self-doubt and fear keep me from achieving greatness on my own terms.
